My master, the Thus Gone One (Tathagatha), the Worthy One (Arahant), the Highest Self—Enlightened One (Sammasambuddha), was replete in higher knowledges. He gained knowledge of psychic powers which enabled him to travel through the air, walk on water, dive into the earth and appear out of another location and to travel while not being visible. He gained the “divya shravana gnana” (divine hearing knowledge) which allowed him to hear sounds both near and [very — even sounds on other planes of existence] far away.

He gained the “divya chakku gnana” (divine sight knowledge) which allowed him to see evrything [anything, anywhere]. He gained the “parichiththa vijanan gnana,” (mind reading knowledge) which allowed him to see / read others’ minds. He gained the knowledge “asayanusaya gnana,” which allowed him to see how various defilements are hidden away / deposited in the minds of other beings. He gained the knowledge “pubbenivanussathi gnana,” which allowed him to see the [vision and details] of his own and other beings’ previous lives.

He gained the knowledge “chuthupapatha gnana,” which allowed him to see how beings pass away and are re—born accoring to their actions (kamma). He gained the knowledge “chethopariya gnana,” which allowed him to see how beings realize the Dhamma [how they gain enlightenment or Nibbana]. He gained the knowledge “asawakkaya gnana,” which is gained by destroying all mental defilements [the knowledge on how to destroy all mental defilements without remainder]. The Lord Buddha lived his life in accordance and inline with those knowledges. The Lord Buddha (Tathagatha) was because of these reasons called “Vijjacharanasampanna.”

My master, the Thus Gone One (Tathagatha), the Worthy One (Arahant), the Highest Self—Enlightened One (Sammasambuddha), always spoke very pleasant and pleasing words. He tread the pleasant Noble Eighfold Path. He completed the very pleasant Noble Eighfold Path, which is free from all mental defilements. The Lord Buddha (Tathagatha) was because of these reasons called “Sugatha.”
